Bordeaux and its greatest vineyards

Bordeaux is known all over the world thanks to its famous vineyards. So, this is the logical starting point for your cycling trip, with such arch city in cultural & historical places. Let you bear away on the sweet atmosphere and follow an itinerary, which will guide you from the ‘Entre deux mers’ area to the land of ‘Haut Médoc’. Smell the delicate & fruity fragrances diffused from the famous wine properties with suggestive names, and dream about the glorious & turbulent past of these old properties that you will cross.

Day by Day

Day 1: Arrival in Bordeaux

From your hotel ideally located, discover Bordeaux, with its numerous green and flowered open spaces, its exceptional heritage, then the quality of life naturally punctuated with gastronomic pleasures and nocturnal parties.

 

Day 2: Bordeaux – Cadillac - 49 km

Proud of its new transport facilities, Bordeaux has given a large access to bikes ! By this way, leave easily the town centre to ride on an original and rustic cycling path which will lead you to Créon, a typical fortified village of this area ! Then continue through the vineyards of Cadillac until the surrounding wall of the village. 

 

Day 3: Excursion Cadillac - Sauternes vineyards - Cadillac - 46 km

Another loop for your papilla and your adventure in the vineyards : After a ride between forest and vineyards, the Chateau Yquem will appear and invite you to discover another taste : a honey flavour for a sweet white wine highly appreciated by wine’s lover ! From the deep cellars to the small routes between vineyards, ride on the path of a soil renown through the entire world. Then en route you will have the opportunity to stop at the Toulouse Lautrec resting place before coming back to Cadillac via Loupiac.

 

Day 4: Cadillac – Saint Emilion - 50 km

This stage will allow you to ride through the heart of ‘Entre-deux Mers’ vineyards, from the  Garonne to the Dordogne river. You will have the opportunity to visit the charming village of Rauzan, overlooked by its dignified medieval chateau, before reaching the prestigious village of Saint-Emilion, one of the richest village in historical testimonies.

 

Day 5: Saint Emilion – Blaye - 64 km

Leave this city symbol of the greatest vintage wines to ride along Bordeaux vineyards and the soil ‘Bordeaux Supérieur’ then continue on Côtes de Blaye AOC vineyards. Blaye is also known for its citadel overlooking the Gironde river, dignified and magnificent, it has been built by Vauban during the 17th century and has been classified as historical testimony.

 

Day 6: Blaye – Bordeaux - 61 km   

Take a marine breath ! Start this ride with a Gironde river crossing by boat to reach Lamarque and its famous Médoc vineyards and chateaux wine cellars. For the most courageous and for the vintage wine lovers, an escapade towards Pauillac is a must! Then, for a wonderful finish, have a stop at the prestigious Château Margaux and reach Bordeaux.

 

Day 7: Departure during the day.
