Cycling discovery in the heart of the châteaux country

The kings of France used to live in a valley where Mother Nature offered them its richness and where time quietly slipped away. It’s now your time to appreciate the charms of this valley: to wander from châteaux to vineyards and to enjoy the pretty places that we have chosen for your stay. From the Loire River, use your bike to explore the attractive “Pays des Châteaux”!

Day by Day

Day 1: Arrival in Blois

Possibility to visit the town with its typical paved streets punctuated with staircases, and the chateau, a perfect illustration of how French architecture evolved between the Middle Ages and the 17th century.

 

Day 2: Blois – Amboise - 42 km

Follow the 'pays des châteaux' cycling tracks through nice tiny villages to the château of Chaumont-sur-Loire, which proudly dominates the river. Then continue on the 'Loire à Vélo' cycling tracks before arriving at the charming town of Amboise with its royal château, where the greatest kings of France lived.

 

Day 3: Excursion Amboise – Chenonceaux – Amboise - 40 km  

After crossing the Amboise forest, reach the famous chateau of Chenonceau straddling the Cher River, which was the scene of a famous rivalry in French history: that of Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medici. Enjoy a walk in the heart of the Diane de Poitiers‘s garden, then the Catherine de Medici’s one. Take a breath, under the shadow of one of the huge park trees, at the rhythm of the river murmur which will tell you stories about these 2 rival women.

 

Day 4: Amboise – Cheverny - 54 km     

Enjoy a ride through countryside routes via typical villages to reach the medieval chateau of Fougères sur Bièvre,a perfect illustration of the traditional 15th  century building art. Meet along your day small private chateaux in the middle of green settings such as Chateau de Troussay before your final destination : the famous chateau of Cheverny.                                                                                 

Day 5: Excursion Cheverny – Beauregard - Cheverny - 30 km or 48 km

An excursion through the Forest of Russy with possibility to visit the Château of Beauregard famous for its Portrait Gallery. Possibility to extend your excursion to the rich and mysterious ‘Sologne’ with magnificent landscapes: beautiful forests sheltering game, ponds at every crossroads and small private châteaux hidden behind their vineyards or groves.

 

Day 6: Cheverny – Blois - 40 km    

During this last stage you will discover the famous sumptuously furnished Château of Cheverny before reaching the prestigious Château of Chambord, real masterpiece of French Renaissance period with its 440 rooms built during the reign of Francis the 1st .

 

Day 7: Departure during the day
